The third installment of this event was another
huge success. We had about 80 participants, a slight decrease from
last year but considering the cold winds of the day a very strong turnout (kudos to the
road riders who braved those winds!!). Due to this turnout and the additional donations received we were able to generate a sizable pile of toys for the Toys for Tots foundation. The representatives from the Marines commented several times about how appreciative
they were for our support for the Toys for Tots cause and how the much the
children of Eastern North Carolina will appreciate the toys that were
collected. This was also reflected in this letter published in The Daily Reflector.
In addition to all the volunteer support that we got in support of this event, we need to thank Christine Strom of Cary for once again
making some sweet trophies for the race and Cycle Logic of Raleigh for
donating 5 (!!) kids bikes. Lastly thanks to the Bicycle Post for
their support of this event.
